Exceptions

The task was canceled. The InnerExceptions collection contains a TaskCanceledException object.

-or-

An exception was thrown during the execution of the task. The InnerExceptions collection contains information about the exception or exceptions.

Examples

The following example is a command-line utility that calculates the number of bytes in the files in each directory whose name is passed as a command-line argument. If the directory contains files, it executes a lambda expression that instantiates a FileStream object for each file in the directory and retrieves the value of its FileStream.Length property. If a directory contains no files, it simply calls the FromResult method to create a task whose Task.Result property is zero (0). When the tasks finish, the total number of bytes in all a directory's files is available from the Result property.

Remarks

Accessing the property's get accessor blocks the calling thread until the asynchronous operation is complete; it is equivalent to calling the Wait method.

Once the result of an operation is available, it is stored and is returned immediately on subsequent calls to the Result property. Note that, if an exception occurred during the operation of the task, or if the task has been cancelled, the Result property does not return a value. Instead, attempting to access the property value throws an AggregateException exception.

Hmm, ok, I tend to make a mess of big posts like that. Could have been more clear. 2nd quote in there mentions 'Installation and Configuration Guide pdf' somewhere ;)
I have also tried it without the responsefile (ini), because that's the only switch out of line with the installshield parameters. Nothing changed.
I have left out the -L switch, nothing.
And I have removed the -s switch. At that point the answer file (.iss) doesn't work and I have to manually install it. (Is that default behavior? I have actually no experience with installshield setups, always have been able to repackage them until now)

Haven't tried running the install with only a response file yet. Will try that now, just to see what happens.

It strikes me that you would have spent this time better figuring out the problem you had with your captured MSI. :-)

I might as well go back to that indeed -___-
I just can't stand it that the wrapper seems to 'lose' the app when running silent. Even if I manage to get a working MSI I still want to know why this is happening actually.
